What's the difference between the different types of editing and proofreading?

Editing is more than reading a document over!

Developmental editing occurs at the early stages, working with the writer.

Structural editing involves major re-writing.

Copyediting involves re-writing for ease of reader comprehension. More suitable words and phrases may be suggested, the tone may be altered, sentences and paragraphs may be re-structured.

Proofreading is the last step in the writing process when checks are made for punctuation, spelling, tense, capitalisation and grammar.

What's the best way to send documents to Flair Writing & Editing?

A Word attachment in an email is best.

How long will it take to do the job?

It depends on the job! Many editing jobs can be completed in 2-3 days, after receiving instructions and necessary documents.

Company reports, books and theses can be complex and time-consuming so please call or email to discuss.

Do you use American spelling or English/Australian spelling?

Whichever you wish, although if it's an Australian publication I recommend English/Australian spelling.

What are the rates?

Flair Writing & Editing's prices are very competitive; email melita[at]writeandedit.com.au to discuss rates.

How can I pay?

An invoice will be provided and you may pay by cash, (Australian) cheque or via internet banking - whatever is the most convenient.

At what stage do I give the job to you?

At any stage that you feel like you need guidance... Flair Writing & Editing can start writing from the commencement of your task/assignment - from an initial brief - or can edit part or all of your project at any stage.
